Billy (name changed for privacy) came to SORT Coffs Harbour with very little knowledge or experience with computers. He quickly learned how to use them and was soon quite proficient. Billy demonstrated he was keen to work and had many skills to share. His previous experience in the building trade also made Billy an asset to the SORT team as he enthusiastically built workbenches and Sorts (bins) for the site.
During his engagement with SORT, Billy applied for a night-fill position at Coles via an online application and was successful in obtaining a position. He went to his JobActive provider and gave them the good news. On advising his JobActive provider Billy’s case worker was thrilled and told him he no longer had to do WFD at SORT. This is an outcome that SORT ultimately want for the participants.
Billy’s JobActive Provider was very surprised when Billy begged to continue at the SORT site. The JobActive provider made special arrangements for Billy to continue his training at SORT. The JobActive provider relayed the news to SORT Coffs Harbour saying, "I don't know what you guys did but keep doing it."
